Aonghas Pàdraig Caimbeul (Angus Peter Campbell), from South Uist, is recognised as Gaelic writer in different genres, and many other people have gained a reputation as a result of their writing as well.

The Campbells from Ness in the Isle of Lewis possess(ed) considerable writing talent, with Aonghas 'Am Puilean' Caimbeul , his brother— Aonghas 'Am Bocsair' Caimbeul , his sons Alasdair 'a' Bhocsair' Caimbeul and Tormod 'a' Bhocsair' Caimbeul , and Norman's daughter— Catrìona Lexy Chaimbeul   all known as great writers.

There is another Campbell who has earned a reputation (for himself) with his writing, and that is Maoilios Caimbeul (Myles Campbell).

Iain Fionnlagh MacLeòid (Iain Finlay MacLeod) has written a variety of novels on many subjects—from crime and murder, fantasy, science‑fiction and historical novels!

Tormod MacGill‑Eain (Norman MacLean) wrote several humorous or satirical novels.
