It would be paid, it will be paid, it was paid
Phàigheadh, pàighear, phàighte
We saw a few examples of the tràth chumhach fhulangach (passive conditional tense) in the introduction to this lesson.
We have now seen several passive tenses in the course, but this is the first time we will look at the conditional passive tense.
Let's start with the regular verb pay (pay).
We all know the tràthan sa ghuth ghnìomhach (tenses in the active voice):
GUTH GNÌOMHACH
TRÀTH CAITHTE | TRÀTH TEACHDAIL | TRÀTH CUMHACH |
An do phàigh? | Am pàigh? | Am pàigheadh? |
Nach do phàigh? | Nach pàigh? | Nach pàigheadh? |
Phàigh | Pàighidh | Phàigheadh |
Cha do phàigh | Cha phàigh | Cha phàigheadh |
You will know the passive future tense already, and you’ll see the past and conditional tenses in this table:
GUTH FULANGACH
TRÀTH CAITHTE | TRÀTH TEACHDAIL | TRÀTH CUMHACH |
An do phàigheadh? | Am pàighear? | Am pàighte? |
Nach do phàigheadh? | Nach pàighear? | Nach pàighte? |
Phàigheadh | Pàighear | Phàighte |
Cha phàigheadh | Cha phàighear | Cha phàighte |
