Feallsanachd aosmhor

Gaelic

Tha tòrr de dh'Fheallsanachd an Iar stèidhichte air feallsanachd nan Greugach anns                  an t-seachdamh linn ro Chrìosda (RC), agus lean i gu ruige an siathamh linn an dèidh Chrìosda (AD).

Is iad Socrates, Plato agus Aristotle na feallsanaichean as ainmeile bhon àm sin.

Bha an t-uabhas de luchd-smaoin cudromach eile mun cuairt aig a cheart àm leithid na Presocratics, Sophists, Stoics, Epicureans agus na mì-chreidmhichean (sceptics).

Bha feallsanachd an ama sin sa mhòr-chuid pàganach, ach thàinig beachdan feallsanachd agus Crìostaidheachd còmhla anns an t-siathamh linn an dèidh Chrìosda nuair a chrìochnaich feallsanachd nan Greugach.

Mun aon àm bha feallsanachd aosmhor ri lorg ann an Sìona, anns na h-Innseachan agus anns an Ear-Mheadhan.

English

Much of Western Philosophy is based on the philosophy of the Greeks in the seventh century before Christ (BC), and it continued until the sixth century after Christ (AD).

Socrates, Plato and Aristotle are the most well-known philosophers from that era.

There were many other important thinkers around at the same time such as the Presocratics, Sophists, Stoics, Epicureans and the sceptics.

The philosophy of that era was mostly pagan, but the ideas of philosophy and Christianity came together in the sixth century after Christ when Hellenistic philosophy ended.

Around the same time ancient philosophy was to be found in China, in India and in the Middle East.
