DÈ DO BHEACHD? | WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Why don’t you have a go at this task! If you have a Gaelic-speaking friend, you could do this together. If you don’t—no problem—you can have double the fun!

Think and/or talk about these questions.

An deach thu/sibh dhan Mhòd an-uiridh no a’ bhon-uiridh?

Did you go to the Mod last year or the year before?

An do ghabh thu/sibh pàirt anns a’ Mhòd a-riamh?

Have you ever participated in the Mod?

An do bhuannaich thu/sibh bonn no buinn?

Did you win a medal or medals?

An tèid thu/sibh gu Mòd ionadail no dhan Mhòd Nàiseanta am-bliadhna?

Are you going to a local Mod or National Mod this year?

Càit am bi am Mòd Nàiseanta am-bliadhna?

Where will the National Mod be this year?

Dè an t-àite as fheàrr airson a’ Mhòid nad bheachd-sa?

What do you think is the best place for the Mod?

Go to the BBC website where you can see clips from the National Mod:

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0084v85/clips

If you have a Gaelic-speaking friend, you could do this together. If you don’t—no problem—you can have double the fun!

Choose three recordings from the BBC website and listen to the clips.

Think and/or talk about these questions.

Dè na clàraidhean a thagh thu/sibh agus carson?

Which recordings did you choose and why?

An e òrain, dàin no sgeulachdan a bh’ annta?

Were they songs, poems or stories?

Cò mu dheidhinn a bha iad?

What were they about?

An do thuig thu/sibh faclan nan òran?

Did you understand the words of the songs?

An cuala tu/sibh an t-òran, an dàn, no an sgeulachd roimhe?

Have you heard the song, poem or story before?

Dè na h-ainmean a bh’ orra?

What were their titles?

Cò ghabh iad?

Who sang, recited or told them?
