Àiteachan air a' Ghàidhealtachd

In this lesson we are going to look at A' Ghàidhealtachd ( The Highlands) . We'll look at ainmean–àite (place–names), at eachdraidh (history) and at cultar/cultaran (culture/s) of the Highlands in the present day.

We call the parts of Scotland north and west of the Highland Line A' Ghàidhealtachd . Historically, these were the parts of Scotland where Gaelic would be spoken. The word Gàidhealtachd means, in Gaelic, Tìr nan Gàidheal (The land of the Gaels).
