We call the parts of Scotland north and west of the Highland Line A' Ghàidhealtachd . Historically, these were the parts of Scotland where Gaelic would be spoken. The word Gàidhealtachd means, in Gaelic, Tìr nan Gàidheal (The land of the Gaels).
