Iomairt uaine

Green campaign

‘S e Uaineach a thathar ag ràdh ri cuideigin a tha nam ball den Phàrtaidh Uaine—’s e Pàrtaidh Uaine na h-Alba an t-ainm oifigeil a th’ orra ann an Alba.

Someone who is a member of the Green Party is (a) Green—their official name in Scotland is the Scottish Green Party (Scottish Greens).

Tha am pàrtaidh ag amas air poileasaidhean uaine a chur air bhog a bhios math don àrainneachd agus cuideachail don t-saoghal.

The party aims to establish green policies that will be good for the environment and helpful for the world.

Bheir sinn sùil air cuid de na rudan seo nas fhaide air adhart san leasan seo.

We will look at some of these things later in this lesson.

Take a look at the political party broadcast produced by the Scottish Green Party in 2010.

Here is the transcript from the first part of the broadcast.

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Ceart, tha an t-àm ann co-dhùnadh a dhèanamh.

00:00—03:02 English

Right, it’s time to make a decision.

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Tha gach pàrtaidh às dèidh ur bhòt a-rithist, ach chan eil ach trì dhiubh a’ nochdadh air deasbadan telebhisein.

00:00—03:02 English

Every party is after your vote again, but only three of them appear on televised debates.

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Sin agad na trì pàrtaidhean a dh’adhbharaich an staid anns a bheil sinn a’ strì airson làmh-an-uachdair mar as àbhaist.

00:00—03:02 English

There you have the three parties that caused the situation in which we are fighting for the upper hand as usual.

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Ach dè an diofar a th’ eatarra?

00:00—03:02 English

But what is the difference between them?

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Na làithean sa tha dearg a’ sìor fhàs coltaiche ri gorm agus gorm ri dearg.

00:00—03:02 English

These days red is becoming more and more like blue and blue like red.

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Tha dearg a’ gluasad beagan dhan taobh dheis, gorm a’ gluasad beagan dhan taobh chlì.

00:00—03:02 English

Red moves slightly to the right, blue moves slightly to the left.

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Agus iadsan?

00:00—03:02 English

And them?

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Chan eil fios acasan càit am bu chòir dhaibh a bhith!

00:00—03:02 English

They don’t know where they should be!

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Thug iad uile cùl-taic dha na bancairean, bha iad uile an lùib sgainnealan chosgaisean agus tha na trì dhiubh airson seirbheisean poblach a ghearradh.

00:00—03:02 English

They all backed the bankers, they were all involved in expenses scandals and all three of them want to cut public services.

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Tha iad uile a’ bruidhinn mu atharraichean, ach cha toir duine aca sin gu bith.

00:00—03:02 English

They are all talking about changes, but none of them will actually do it.

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Gu fortanach, tha roghainn eile agaibh.

00:00—03:02 English

Fortunately, you have another option.

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Pàrtaidh a tha airidh air a’ bhòt agaibh.

00:00—03:02 English

A party that deserves your vote.

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Ann an Alba, tha Am Pàrtaidh Uaine mar-thà a’ soirbheachadh.

00:00—03:02 English

In Scotland, The Green Party is already succeeding.

00:00—03:02 Gaelic

Chan ann dìreach a thaobh na h-àrainneachd, ach air eucoir, obraichean, saorsa chatharra agus air seirbheisean poblach a dhìon; a’ toirt togail air an eaconamaidh agus a’ toirt ionnsaigh air bochdainn

00:00—03:02 English

Not just on the environment, but on crime, jobs, civil liberties and protecting public services; boosting the economy and fighting poverty.
